A rant about the 4 inch rule
(so a bit of backstory; at school we usually have to wear a uniform but today was an out of uniform day and I went off to my friend about how my mom had told me that I would get in trouble at school because “my shorts were too short” I kinda got a little angry and texted my friend this beautiful rant, I’ve bleeped out the name of my school and all because even though I don’t agree with their ideals I still want to remain respectful so enjoy)

mm kay so the whole uniform no four inches above the knee thing is bullshit
1) it’s 20 fucking 16, do you really think that any of us own anything 4 inches above the knee? I mean like seriously? you tell us we can wear shorts but only shorts that literally no one owns, please, you can’t even get the length of the high school’s skirts call me when it really is 4 INCHES ABOVE THE KNEE and not just 4 inches above the knee in certain occasions
2) Everybody has different bodies and for some people 4 inches above the knee is a lot more or less depending on how long your legs are and other physical stuff like let’s say R***** and I are both wearing the same pair of shorts but since R***** has such long legs the shorts look shorter so she would get in trouble but I wouldn’t just because of our physical differences
3) If something is deemed “slutty” looking no matter if your shorts are 4 inches above the knee you will be carded again because of physical appearance! like s****** can wear a tank top and short shorts to school because she isn’t as shapely as some people but when I wear it its “slutty” just because of my body type and how big my ass and boobs are (they’re actually quite small but still they’re apparently the right size to call me a slut!)
4) literally it was national women’s day yesterday and one of the things I hate about being a girl is being constantly told I can’t wear this because “it makes you look like a boy” or “its too revealing” this morning as I was walking out the door my mom told me I would get in trouble because my outfit was “a little scandalous” as women shouldn’t we be celebrating our bodies? like one of the goals of women’s rights is not only proving we don’t need/want attention from men but also desexualizing our bodies and you would totally think as a girls school we would be all about feminism but actually S*** is extremely lowkey sexist and I have gotten in trouble multiple times because of my body type and how certain things look “too slutty” or “scandalous” on me and seriously if I get in trouble today I am going to rant about women’s rights and desexualizing the female body to the school I really don’t care I’ll do it
